“It’s not a pub for tourists, and it’s not a pub for boozing,” says one local of AmSo, the new bar and restaurant from the owners of the popular bar The Eighteenth Amendment and the restaurant Red Pearl. The gastro-pub concept originally opened as a pop-up, but the owners liked it so much they decided to make it a permanent spot. The space is cozy, with two distinct areas: a more intimate dining room and a larger lounge space with a pool table and a stage that features live music and comedy nights. The menu is pub fare with a twist, food to eat with dishes like a grilled cheese with avocado and tomato and a grilled chicken sandwich with zucchini and squash. The bar serves local craft beer and wine, and the cocktails are creative, including the “Cucumber Cooler” with cucumber, mint, and vodka.
